(I’m not quite sure how I feel about the video… it’s certainly unconventional for Radiohead)

With Radiohead, I have never been able to decide if a song is good or not, but I think this song is. (The video, however, is another story)
Along side of Idioteque, I would qualify this song as one of Radiohead’s better tunes, though not quite great like Idioteque. I have yet to listen to the entire album, but my impression of it insofar is better than I had anticipated. With most bands who gain in popularity as the years pass, I often find that the band’s sound becomes almost diluted by the demands of the industry. In the case of Radiohead, I believe the dilution is still present, but to a lesser extent than most bands. Radiohead has an almost unexplainable likability factor despite their seemingly “strange” musical style and this unexplainable aspect is what allows them to continue producing a consistent style of music despite their huge success.
The new track definitely has some pop-influenced attributes, such as the sample-style drum beat (which is quite a bit quicker and more defined than the spacey, experimental ascetics of Kid A) but the sound is still definitively Radiohead. In the very beginning of the track a few dissonant, electronic sounds are heard that reminded me of Kid A but they faded away before Yorke began singing and they never really came back, but that’s OK with me. The track’s more poppy sound works well and I feel that if they tried to integrate too much of their older style it would have clashed. Overall, the song is a good listen, still has the defined Radiohead sound (preserved by Yorke’s signature voice and a subtle electronic fill) but I don’t feel like it engages the listener as much as their older work.
If you are a Radiohead fan, you will like this song, if you are not a Radiohead fan, you might like this song.

Are you scared of black people? If not, you will be after this.
Tyler, The Creator aka Wolf Haley has recently seen a lot of media attention. A video for “Yonkers” was recently released on youtube promoting Tyler’s new album “Goblin” said to drop sometime this spring. Tyler and fellow Odd Future member Hodgy Beats appeared on Jimmy Fallon on February 19th Preforming the song “Sandwiches”. If you are not yet familiar with Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All, you will be soon; they’re blowing up faster than my dick on Redtube.
The song “Bastard” is the title track of Tyler’s first album. The song showcases Tyler’s truly self-made style of music. He has produced, recorded and engineered all of his own tracks and, keeping with the tradition of Odd Future, posted them for free download on the collective’s website. The piano and lo-fi style of music production meshes perfectly with the raw yet well developed lyrics, creating a very wholesome, original sound. The song hits on subjects often deemed to be “too much”, these foreign and un-cut lyrics add another aspect of unconventionality to the track. It is extremely refreshing to see a group that is making music that they want to make without the influence of big record companies
Golf Wang.
This is my first music review.
